swiss belhotel batam travel information

Batam Island is located in the north east of Riau province and boasts of its spectacular beaches on the north coast.

Batam is in close proximity to Singapore, only20 kilometres south of Singapore and it is one of the fastest growing areas of the Riau Islands. Batam is a popular weekend destination to visitors from Singapore.

More than 1.2 million tourists visit Batam each year, this is more than any destination in Indonesia except for Bali.

There are more than half a dozen international standard golf courses on the island. Some of the courses were converted into Golf and Beach Resort like that of Palm Springs, which offers golf and a bounty of resorts services. Palm Springs is an ideal property with its own private white sand beach.

For those who relish fresh seafood, there is no other place better than Batam Island. The range of tantalizing seafood is easily available all year round at its numerous restaurants all over the island. Tourists to Batam will be spoilt for choice on a range of activities to thrill themselves with mountain biking, trekking or hop on a leisurely cruise to the untouched southern islands of Galang and Rempang.

Batam Island is easily accessible through its international airport (Hang Nadim International Airport) with daily connections to and from major cities in Indonesia.

Batam Island is also accessible via sea from Singapore. Ferries ply between Singapore and Batam several times a day from Singapore's World Trade Centre or Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

It takes approximately 25 minutes to an hour to Batu Ampar, Nongsapura, Sekupang or Waterfront City.
